The Heritage

In the old days bonfires were lit along the coast of Finland to ensure that ships conveyed their cargoes safely to the harbours of the Atlantic Ocean and beyond. The northernmost of these bonfires, which was replaced by a lighthouse long ago, became a symbol of both safety and adventure for the local people.

The story goes that when sailors passed this sacred landmark on their return journey they would drink a toast with the last few drops of vodka to celebrate the safe return after a long and hard voyage.
